How we do it
At Astro, we go through the Value Engineering process way before we start talking to customers. For example, by designing our building walls to off-the-shelf steel sizes, we can maximise the buying efficiency of steel. And we know that by increasing the structural strength of the walls, we can reduce steel sizes, and save costs even further. This modular approach to building not only saves time and money — it creates maximum flexibility for home-owners as walls can be moved and re-arranged easily.
Our smart thinking doesn’t stop there. We want our homes to be warm and energy efficient — so all the thermal calculations are done right from the start and we choose the most energy efficient materials available. This modular process cuts the build time down, and allows for faster consent approvals with fewer components required, fewer trades on site and fewer inspections than a standard build. It’s intelligent building for the modern New Zealand.

About Us
Like many Kiwis we shake our heads at the cost of building in New Zealand. Sky-high prices due to poor systems, supply chains and old-fashioned thinking. With a combined 60 years’ experience in large scale commercial builds, we reckon we have a few ideas on how to build smarter, longer lasting homes, utilising materials that were under-valued by residential builders.
So we’ve set about changing the status quo by creating a design-focussed, value-driven building company that could redefine modern living and make homes more affordable than ever.
